Please contact Charity Chair, Donna Gollehon at email@example.com for more information about charity projects. A message from Donna:
Dear Fellow Charity Sewers,
It is time to start our final project for our Guild’s Charity endeavors. We have done an outstanding job this year. Our first project started last year and was “Be A Santa For a Senior” sponsored by Home Instead. We contributed 36 lap quilts to this charity, and they were distributed at Christmas time to our senior community. Our second charity was spearheaded with Cathy Clark to make quilts for our homeless youth in the valley. We have made close to 50 quilts for this charity. We will show you all these amazing quilts in the very near future--be it in person or via video, and they will be distributed in November.
So it is now time to start building bags for Mending in the Mountains. Cathy and I have put together 40 kits with patterns to be distributed on demand. I will be happy to bring you a kit or two so we can get sewing on these familiar bags. I am hoping to have a Charity Sew Day at the end of May if COVID19 lets us. With our charity sew, we can help each other make bags, make more kits as needed, and add some variations to the bags to make them a little easier.
It is now time to start thinking about what charities we want to work with in 2021. I want you all to be thinking about the charities we want to support with our quilting expertise. Please use the following form to submit your suggestions. When you click on "send form", I'll receive your email directly. I will pick the top 5 suggestions; then you all can vote, and we’ll do the top 3 for this autumn and next year, 2021.
Thank you all for your participation,
Donna Gollehon, Charity Committee Chair
APR - JUL MENDING IN THE MOUNTAINS BAG
Last year the Gallatin Quilt Guild made cloth bags for MENDING IN THE MOUNTAINS, the cancer survivors' retreat held in conjunction with Bozeman's Cancer Support Community, a non-profit organization specializing in the care and support of cancer patients and their families. As one of our charity projects, we'll create more of that same bag. Directions are included below in the .pdf link. Contact Donna Gollehon for help at firstname.lastname@example.org. . We'd like to make as many bags as possible! Kits are available.

NOTE: Donations of fabric, quilt tops, and unfinished quilts may be accepted or rejected by Committee Chair and Co-chairs according to need and space available. All other donations may be used at Guild fund raising events such as Garage Sales, etc. and stored by donator. If we find we are in need of fabric or tops a call will be sent out. We know how generous our Guild members are but we do not have the space to store all that is given.
