President's
September Message
Greetings,
I hope summer has treated you very well. For me, it has gone by much
too fast. As usual, I seem to have not completed most of my summer
lists.
It is time to think ahead to the coming months. Sheri has 3 interesting
programs set up for September, October and November. The October
program involves all members. Remember the name tag challenge. All
members should bring their name tags to the meeting and the top 5 will
be picked by the membership to win a prize. Be creative and have fun
making your name tag. New and old name tags can be submitted. If you
already have a completed name tag, be sure to bring it with you.
Also in October, we are having our Recycle Raffle. Bring a box of
goodies from your sewing room – items that need a new home. Make
sure the items are in good working order and that if there is any
fabric, it is clean and in a usable quantity. The box goes as a unit
and if your box does not go to a new home, you take it home.
We are looking for officers for the coming year. Please consider being
an officer. Talk to any of the board members if you have any questions
about any of the positions.
See you in September.

President's June Message
Greetings Everyone,
I hope you all enjoyed Dr. Mary Murphy’s talk about the history
of Montana quilting during the May meeting. She had some fantastic
stories! The theme will continue with our next speaker, Margot Krager.
If you have ever heard Margot speak then you will surely agree that her
talk will be equally as fascinating.
Name Tag challenge-
Don’t forget to pick up an embroidered name tag blank from Leslie
(cost is $3.00). They have the guild logo on it and you can add any
embellishments along with your name. The top five name tags will be
voted on during the October meeting and prizes will be awarded. Be sure
to pick up your template while you still can.
Quilts on the Lawn-
We will have an information booth at the Quilts on the Lawn, in August.
Marion Kraus has kindly agreed to help co-chair the booth, but she
would like some company. Please consider volunteering at least a 2-hour
block of your time to share the booth with her. We will have a sign up
sheet at the June meeting.
We are making the banner for the Quilts on the Lawn booth and so those
of you who signed out letters please be sure to bring them with you
during the June meeting. Remember - do not trim the block, we will do
that as we put the blocks together. Thanks in advance to everyone
that is helping out!
Charity Quilt-
Ann Drenk and Frankie Kustin presented the guild with design options
for the next charity quilt. Everyone voted for the Stepping Stones
pattern from Judy Niemeyer. This quilt will go to the Teen Pregnancy
Prevention Coalition.
All the Best,
Sheri Klas, Vice-President

President's
May Message
Greetings fellow stitchers,
Hope you have a chance to enjoy the sunny days. Name tag
challenge- Leslie Peterson has found a large number of the embroidered
pieces for making name tags. They have the guild logo on it and you can
add any embellishments along with your name. Those of you have
your tags made, remember you will be included in the voting, for the
five favorites at the October meeting. Leslie will have the embroidered
pieces at the May meeting. They are $3.
We will have an
information booth at the Quilts on the Lawn, in August. Marion Kraus
has agreed to help co-chair the booth, but she needs someone to be the
other co-chair. Give me a call if you can help.
For the booth at
Quilts on the Lawn, we are going to make a banner and need
everyone’s help. At the May meeting, we will have 9” by
7” background pieces and stencil-type letters for you to copy to
help in making a block that will go into the sign. You choose a letter
from our name, Gallatin Quilt Guild, and put it to fabric and embellish
it any way you want. The final size of the block will be 8 ½ by
6 ½. Do not trim the block, we will do that as we put the blocks
together. The blocks will need to be returned at the June meeting. This
will give us plenty of time to get it put together by August.
